Originally from the Netherlands and based in Rwanda since 2014, Pieter Ruigrok Van der Werve is a professional actor, director, and drama teacher with over 25 years of experience in the performing arts.

He has worked in theatre, film, and television since 1994, and taught for eight years at the School of Performing Arts at Hanze University in the Netherlands. In Rwanda, Pieter has become a respected voice in the cultural scene, working with performers, NGOs, international schools, and institutions such as the Goethe-Institut, the European Union in Rwanda, UMUT Arts, and Soloba Films (where he appears in the hit series The Forest).

Through Thespis Consultancy, his artistic coaching platform, he helps individuals and teams gain confidence, presence, and creative expression — both on and off stage. At Odoyá Center, he brings his expertise to our Theatre Improv Team Building workshops, helping groups reconnect through laughter, trust, and play.
