Kigali Carnival 2026 – The First Edition
planned

Carnaval CelebrationsGet ready, Kigali — the drums are calling!
In 2026, the streets of Rwanda’s capital will come alive with rhythm, color, and celebration for the very first edition of the Kigali Carnival, proudly initiated by Odoyá Center.
At the heart of the parade: a powerful batucada ensemble of over 100 percussionists, trained through our community music program. Behind them, a thousand children in costume will dance and march through the city, creating an unforgettable wave of energy, joy, and unity.
The theme of this first edition: “Akagera” – a tribute to Rwanda’s vibrant wildlife and natural beauty.
Children from Kigali’s social centers will take center stage, joined by students from local schools and families from all backgrounds. Everyone is welcome — this is a carnival for the whole city!
We invite parents and children to join the parade in their wildest animal costumes — lions, giraffes, zebras, birds, and every creature that calls Akagera home. Whether you come to dance, to watch, or simply to cheer, the Kigali Carnival 2026 promises a unique celebration of youth, creativity, and Rwandan pride.
Let the drums lead the way. Let the city come alive. Let’s make history together.
